My Story
Hello, this is Ninetta. Thank you for visiting!

In private practice since 2015, I am an AOBTA Certified Practitioner of Classical Asian Medicine specializing in Shiatsu, and hold a license with the State of Illinois for Massage Therapy (the required credential to practice shiatsu in Illinois). Additionally, I have achieved Board Certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (BCTMB®) and have been awarded the designation of Approved Continuing Education Provider (APCE), both from the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). The APCE designation allows me to offer classes for CE credit to licensed massage therapists in the State of Illinois.

In addition to my Asian Medicine practice, I will soon begin teaching a variety of continuing education (CE) classes at The Peaceful Healing Place. I also teach continuing education and program classes at Zen Shiatsu Chicago - namely Gua sha, cupping and moxibustion.

My education includes graduating from Zen Shiatsu Chicago (located in Evanston, IL), and continuing on to successfully complete advanced post-graduate training where I learned the principles and techniques to help deliver clinical results for chronic, degenerative and autoimmune conditions.

I continue to expand my knowledge and hone my skills by participating in continuing education classes on a regular basis, reading affiliated articles and books, and most importantly, listening to my clients and observing the outcomes of the applied therapies.

And now the interesting stuff!

You may be wondering about my name, Ninetta. It is the diminutive form of Antonietta and from what I gather is quite common in the Puglia region of Italy - the land of olive groves and fig trees!

Both of my parents were raised on farms, and I believe that this is where my love of all things green and natural stems from. Thanks mom and dad! I'm forever indebted and will love you for all time.

And so, it is with great affection that I say that I truly love everything about nature, and feel that a gentle and reverent connection with the natural rhythms of the earth and all of creation are vital to our health and inner peace.
I've had enjoyable careers in the corporate and entrepreneurial worlds (travel and horticulture), and in looking back I feel they prepared me for what was to come in that they involved helping people find what nourished them.
Enter shiatsu. I truly feel that shiatsu found me and I quickly discovered that it and the supporting therapies of Gua sha, cupping and moxibustion embodied all of the elements I love about nature and how deeply nourishing and healing they are. I have great respect for these ancient therapies and all that they have to offer.

I am so delighted to bring this lovely healing art to you. I absolutely love what I do and look forward to "sharing shiatsu" with you!

Oh, and my favorite color? Green.
