Gua sha is an ancient therapeutic healing technique of traditional Asian medicine. Sometimes called ‘coining, spooning or scraping’, Gua sha is more accurately defined as "instrument-assisted, uni-directional press-stroking of a lubricated area on the body surface to stimulate circulation and improve health".

It is considered an adaptogen in that it helps people who are cold to warm up and people who are hot to cool down. It is effective at protecting the immune system and reducing inflammation.
